What is Face PRF?
Face PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that uses the patient’s own blood to promote healing and collagen production. PRF contains higher concentrations of growth factors than PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and provides a slower release, enhancing tissue regeneration. There are two common methods of administering PRF for facial rejuvenation: with microneedling and with direct injection using a 32g needle.
Method 1: PRF with Microneedling
Pre-Procedure Care:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) for at least a week prior.
- Stay well-hydrated and eat a healthy meal before the procedure.
- Discontinue use of retinoids and exfoliants 2-3 days before the procedure.
- Ensure the skin is clean and free of makeup or other products.
Procedure:
- A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient.
- The blood is processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich fibrin from other components.
- The PRF is collected for application.
- The skin is cleansed and numbed with a topical anesthetic.
- A microneedling device is used to create tiny punctures in the skin.
- The PRF is applied to the skin during and after microneedling to promote absorption.
- The entire procedure takes about 60-90 minutes.
Post-Procedure Care:
- Avoid sun exposure and use a high-SPF sunscreen.
- Keep the skin moisturised.
- Avoid makeup and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.
- Use gentle skincare products and avoid retinoids and acids for a few days.
Downtime:
- Mild redness and sensitivity for 1-2 days.
- Minimal to no peeling, allowing for immediate return to daily activities.
Benefits:
- Improves skin texture and tone
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Enhances collagen production
- Promotes smoother, more radiant skin
Method 2: PRF with 32g Needle Injection
Pre-Procedure Care:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) for at least a week prior.
- Stay well-hydrated and eat a healthy meal before the procedure.
- Discontinue use of retinoids and exfoliants 2-3 days before the procedure.
- Ensure the skin is clean and free of makeup or other products.
Procedure:
- A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient.
- The blood is processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich fibrin from other components.
- The PRF is collected into syringes with a 32g needle.
- The skin is cleansed and numbed with a topical anesthetic.
- PRF is injected into specific areas of the face, targeting areas with fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss.
- The entire procedure takes about 60-90 minutes.
Post-Procedure Care:
- Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and bruising.
- Avoid sun exposure and use a high-SPF sunscreen.
- Keep the skin moisturized.
- Avoid makeup and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.
- Use gentle skincare products and avoid retinoids and acids for a few days.
Downtime:
- Mild swelling, bruising, and soreness at injection sites for 1-3 days.
- Most patients can resume normal activities within a day.
Benefits:
- Targets specific areas for rejuvenation
- Improves skin texture and tone
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Enhances collagen production
- Provides a natural lift and volume
Sessions Needed for Both Methods:
- Typically, 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results.
- Maintenance sessions may be needed every 6-12 months.
Areas Treated:
- Face (fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss)
- Neck
- Décolletage
Both methods of Face PRF offer significant benefits for skin rejuvenation, improving texture, tone, and overall appearance by harnessing the body’s natural healing properties.
